Advantech Unveils new Server Range based on 5th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, Tailored for AI, Industrial, Network and Edge

Taipei, Taiwan, Dec 14, 2023 – Advantech, a leading industrial and network edge AI solution provider, has announced the launch of twelve new server platforms based on the 5th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor. These cutting-edge products are set to revolutionize the industrial and enterprise computing landscape, addressing the growing demands for heterogeneous AI, edge computing, and high-performance computing applications.

Increased Scalability and Flexibility with 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors

The latest Advantech servers and network appliances based on 5th Gen Intel Xeon processor leverage workload optimizations with increased performance and bandwidth for greater scalability and flexibility. With unique built-in accelerators and new security technology, they new platforms address the needs of real-world workloads, boosting processing power and energy efficiency in AI, networking and storage applications. In addition, the new generation, which is drop-in compatible with 4th Gen Intel Xeon processor, reduces development costs when upgrading from preview generation based platforms, maximizing customers’ investments. 

Key Advancements

• Better performance per watt and further workload acceleration: the new platforms improve performance per watt and integrates improved Intel Advanced Matrix Extensions for AI inference and training as well as new Intel Trust Domain Extensions for secure virtual machine isolation. 
• Higher DDR5 speeds, larger share cache and increased inter-socket bandwidth: the new generation increases memory speed up to 5600MT/s and features Intel UPI 2.0 with up to 20GT/s inter-socket speed. 
• Pin compatible with previews generation: customer can leverage previews generation investments and development efforts keeping the same LGA-4677 socket. 

Industrial AI and Edge Servers 

Advantech has introduced a series of industrial servers in various form factors to address to different industrial and enterprise needs. These include:

• SKY-620V3: 2U GPU Server with a special design for up to 6 GPU Cards, ideal for AI applications such as AI training and deep learning.
• SKY-820V3: 2U Edge Server with a compact design (450mm) with front and rear access design suitable for 5G open RAN and edge computing.

Furthermore, Advantech offers flexible industrial server solutions, tailored to address specific computing needs in diverse industrial scenarios.

• ASMB-622V3+HPC-6240: 2U edge accelerator server, offering performance and scalability. It is built to address specific industrial computing requirements. It is particularly well-suited for applications demanding high memory capacity and robust performance, making it an ideal choice for various industrial scenarios.
• ASMB-817+HPC-7485: 4U server designed for mission-critical applications that require substantial computational power and reliability. ASMB-817+HPC-7485 is the right choice for applications in need of substantial memory and processing capabilities, such as big data analysis and image processing in mission-critical scenarios.
• ASMB-927+HPC-7485: 4U server, designed with a focus on power-efficient computing performance. This server is an excellent choice for applications requiring power-efficient performance and fast data processing, making it a suitable option for edge computing and other resource-intensive scenarios.
  
• ASMB-977+HPC-7420:  Dual-socket 4U edge accelerator server tailored for AI and object detection applications. ASMB-977+HPC-7420 is an ideal choice for AI workloads and applications requiring rapid processing capabilities, making it a suitable solution for object detection and AI-driven scenarios.
  

Data Center & Telco  Servers 

Advantech’s new platforms based on 5th Gen Intel® Xeon® processors bring a combination of performance improvements and faster memory with better power efficiency to meet today’s network and enterprise sustainability needs. 

• SKY-9234S3: 2U 4-node server that provides support for additional 2.5” NVMe SSDs alongside 3.5” SATA hard drives, cooling fans, and up to 4 hot-swappable CPU node boards. It features 8 DIMM sockets supporting DDR5 4800MHz RDIMM. 
• SKY-8134DU:  1U, dual socket server to accelerate networking and enterprise workloads. It offers broad flexibility and density supporting up to 12 2.5” NVMe drives. This robust server has been designed for high reliability in business-critical applications including mobile core, network security and video processing. 
• SKY-8134S-11: 5G Open RAN vDU platform that delivers unrivalled performance with better scalability and an optimized TCO. Featuring a compact design with an ultra-short depth of 290 mm, the DU server supports built-in Intel vRAN Boost acceleration, providing unparalleled density with up to sixteen 25G ports. It also ensures highly precise time synchronization for front-haul and mid-haul connectivity. To address the demands of challenging network edge environments, this highly reliable, carrier-grade server includes an extra PCIe 5.0 or OCP 3.0 slot for additional acceleration or I/O. 

Scalable Network Appliances for Network Security, SD-WAN & SASE

For enterprise networking and security, Advantech offers full range of network-optimized appliances empowered by 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors including the FWA-5072, FWA-6072 & FWA-6172. These versatile networking and security solutions support QAT Gen4 up to 200Gbps, Advanced LAN Bypass, IPMI 2.0 and redundant PSU with 600mm short depth. 

5th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor for NFV and SD-WAN

• FWA-5072: 1U rackmount network appliance with support for up to 32 cores, equipped with four Advantech NMC (Network Mezzanine Card) slots for network I/O expansion with PCIe Gen5 support, designed for NFV and SD-WAN, Zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), Encryption key rotation and multiplexed VPNs.
• FWA-6072 & FWA-6172:  2U rackmount network appliances, with support for up to 52 cores and 104 cores respectively, and eight PCIe Gen5 NMC mezzanine expansion slots, these devices are ideal to protect traffic between networks and provide advanced capabilities beyond traditional, stateful firewalls.
